Qatayef With Nuts & Coconut Filling




2 cups flour 

1/2 cup fine semolina flour 

1/2 teaspoon baking powder 

1 teaspoon yeast 

2 tablespoons sugar 

3 cups warm water 

1/4 teaspoon baking soda 


Preparationn & Cooking Method:


  • Mixed all the ingredients together, it’s better to use the blender, or hand whisk but make sure you remove all the lumps in the batter


  • Cook it in a low heat for 3 to 4 minutes. Don’t flip the qatayef.
  • Once cooked wrap them in kitchen towel or you can also wrap them in cling film to prevent them from drying out .






1 cup crushed walnuts or any other nuts you prefer.

1/2 cup shredded coconut flex 

2 tablespoons icing sugar 

1 teaspoon cinnamon powder 

1 teaspoon honey (optional)

1/2 teaspoon ghee (optional) 


  • Toast for few minutes in oven 1/2 cup walnut & 1/2 cup almonds  
  • Later combine all other ingredients.
  • Add the filling and fold the sides




  • Fry for 2 to 4 minutes per side or you can bake them in the oven until deep golden brown and crispy 


Sugar syrup 

3 cups sugar 

2 cups water 

Few drops of lemon juice

  • In a pan add the sugar & water and bring to a boil in a medium heat once boiled add the lemon juice to prevent it from crystallizing!  
  • Note: make the sugar syrup first and keep it to cool (should be used at room temperature otherwise the qatayef will be soggy)
  • While the qatayef are still hot drizzle with sugar syrup .
